The Campaign
The University of Toronto and the Faculty of Physical Education and Health have embarked on the first renewal of athletic facilities on the St. George campus in more than 25 years.
In June 2005, the University’s Governing Council approved an ambitious plan to renovate Varsity Arena, rebuild Varsity Stadium, and add a multi-storey Centre for High Performance Sport. The multi-phased transformation into the new Varsity Centre will cost approximately $98 million. To initiate the project, the University contributed more than $21.7 million.
We are currently engaging prospective supporters to secure the funding necessary to bring our ambitious plans to fruition. The Faculty of Physical Education and Health along with the Varsity Centre Campaign Advisory Board, made up of over 25 alumni and friends, will lead the efforts to raise the remaining funds from public and private sources.
Sucesses to date include generous gifts from the Davenport and Goldring families.
