Varsity Centre’s revolutionary artificial turf field – Polytan Ligaturf – is the first field of its kind in Canada and the highest international standard for performance and safety.

Ligaturf is a layered system, with soft, monofilament fibres – which look and feel like grass – laid on top of a one-inch elastic support layer. It offers the shock absorption and consistency of natural turf, while enhancing athlete performance and reducing injury rates.

While most surface systems are laid in place, Polytan surfaces are poured in place for a perfectly level surface. This innovative approach translates into strong and fast performance while maintaining cushioning to prevent injury and long-term wear on athletes’ bodies. Without the maintenance required for natural grass, this new artificial turf also nearly doubles field availability for practice and playing time.

This state-of-the-art surface enjoys the highest possible quality rating – two stars – by FIFA, the international governing body of soccer. Varsity Centre boasts one of only four FIFA 2-star fields in North America, making it an international stand-out and one of the best new places in Canada to compete and play.
